Guests at the 2009 Ball Pologne danced the night away to some outstanding performers, and enjoyed a memorable meal served by the chefs of Le Royal Meridien King Edward Hotel.

Before dinner, guests listened to the Grand Salon Orchestra, a 20-piece ensemble. Conducted by Kerry Stratton (pictured above at right), the music director of Toronto Philharmonia, the orchestra helped to whet appetites for the delicious meal which followed.

As they listened to the music, guests had the chance to bid in our silent auction, which included original oil paintings, sports memorabilia, a guitar signed by Elvis Presley and a luxury cruise for two to the Caribbean.

Dinner began with panko-crusted salmon and shrimp cake on smoked salmon and mustard drizzle, continued with Maushawa (a pulse and yoghurt tower in a tomato lamb broth) and moved on to a main course of middle-Eastern spiced beef tenderloin roasted on the bone.

After dinner, guests relaxed to the work of world-renowned jazz pianist Adam Makowicz, who arrived after performing at a concert in Hamilton.

The evening ended with music from the seven-piece band Fifth Avenue, who played an enjoyable mix of contemporary favourites.

Thanks to our capable masters of ceremonies, B.W. Card and Monique Felcenloben.
